When this place first opened, I really liked it and I'll include my previous review below (following the *). However, during the summer of 2017 I visited again and the quality on this visit was WAY down from that first visit. Fries had lost their wow factor, and we only got a very few instead of a full basket. Shakes were syrupy and poor. Sorry Jake, but your shop has lost my vote for now!
I am not one to write reviews, but wow I had to for this one. What an awful restaurant (if you can call it that)! The worst part, long story short, was the customer service!! So awful. When we went up to the counter not a SINGLE WORD was said by the cashier (if you can call her that) except our total. We were never even offered a receipt and the prices were way more than the taste of the food. For example, it was $6.25 for the onion rings...below is the picture of what we got. Not to mention the 25 minute wait we had to even order, for about the 10 people on front of us. Our family will never come here again and hope yours won't as well. Save your time and money and go to one of the other great places down the street. Probably the saddest place my family has been to all year.
Food seemed typically priced for a touristy town, The burger was good, the raspberry cheesecake shake made me happy, the wait was maybe 10 minutes, the fry quantity was disappointingly small though. Thus. 4 stars. Definitely came with fry sauce.
No condiments are given without asking. Food is decent, but overpriced. Wait time is ridiculous, half an hour to order, 45 minutes to get our food.
*My family has been going to Bear Lake every summer for my entire life. I have more than 30 years of experience eating at all of the local places that pop up around the lake (exponential growth of late). Last night we decided to do a taste test, we ordered a raspberry shake from Jake's, Zipz, and Le Beau's (been going to the latter as long as I can remember). My wife and I then did a blind taste test for each other, closing our eyes and allowing the other to feed the shake randomly. We both agreed that Jake's and Le Beau's were close, but Jake's--on this visit--had a bit more fresh tasting raspberry. Zipz was actually kind of gross, tasted like....marshmallow melted into a cup with some raspberry mixed in. Also, the fries were quite good!
And I've had much better raspberry shakes at other places close by that used fresh raspberries and they charged about the same as Jake's.
They claim to have the best raspberry shakes but their raspberries were frozen during raspberry season and I had a raspberry chocolate shake. I found that it was much more chocolate than raspberry which was disappointing to me. I had thought that because the raspberry was listed first that it would be the prominent taste of the shake rather than the chocolate.
